Normally,  Maharashtrians prepare this with urid dal flour.  However, I avoided urid dal flour and made it with moongdal flour.  I will be preparing the same with the urid dal shortly and shall post the same.

This dish is very simple and tasty along with chapati and paratha.  Can be served with rice and dal too.  The flour is mixed with chopped onion, hing powder, salt, green chilli chopped and green coriander  chopped.

During the discussion with my friend Shubha, she said they used to make pachadi    (see the pachadi)  which I have already posted. do try this recipe and enjoy.

Let us look at the recipe now:  on you tube

Urid dal danger is a Maharashtrian dish prepared with the roasted urad dal flour.  I happened to taste this  yesterday when my colleague brought this during lunch time in the dining hall.  I had it with Methi Paratha and really it was awesome.

It is a simple recipe with the urid dal flour mixed with some onion, lime juice, coriander leaves, hing powder etc.  This recipe shall be posted soon.  First I am posting the Pachadi / Raita recipe.

When I was discussing this recipe with another friend of mine Shubha, she said we used to make pachadi out of this and she shared the recipe with me.

Since I wanted to avoid urid dal due to some gastric issues, I tried it with the Moongdal and it was quite tasty though I am trying this dish for the first time.

I hope you will also enjoy this dish as much as I enjoyed, sharing the same here for you.
Let us look at the recipe now:

Mirchi ka raita is prepared with the large green chilli or bharwan mirch it is known as.  We can make nice bhajias out of this stuffed with potato masala.

When I saw the fresh green chilli with the veg vendor, I could not resist myself from buying this.  However, I made it with only one chilli and rest, i used for bhajias.  This goes well with rice as well as parathas.  I had made green peas paratha and served with it.

Lauki is a quite healthy  vegetable and helpful in reducing your cholesterol, weight etc.  We can make varieties of dishes from lauki halva to raita with this.

I made this raita or Al yakhni (Al means Lauki in Kashmiri, Yakhni is curd based sauce) when I made Kashmiri pulao today as per my Son's requirement.  It was a good combination, simple and easy to prepare.
I forgot to take the photo separately of the  Al  Yakhni.  It is with the  Kashmiri pulao.

Bitter gourd raita is made out of bitter gourd and onion.  It is a simple preparation and tasty rice and I liked it with chapati too.  Bitter gourd has got many health benefits.

When I asked my husband what to make with karela as he loves the stuffed karela, bitter gourd pickle,  pitla, fried , bitter gourd fry, etc. he told me put it in curd and give me.  He loves to have it in that way.   What I have to do is chop them very finely, add salt and then add the curd. keep it for sometime and serve.

When he said that I said will raita out of it.  He was too happy to have it when I made as it was tasting very nice with rice.

Normally, some people do not like to eat pineapple because after eating, it irriates the throat for some.  My daughter does not like it for this reason.  Pineapples are consumed fresh, cooked, juiced, and preserved, and are found in a wide array of  cuisines.    Pineapples are loaded with vitamin A and C, fiber, potassium, phosphorous and calcium. Pineapples are a great source of bromelain which help prevent sinusitis. Pineapples are also effective in curing sore throat, gout and swellings.

Pineapple raita is very tasty can be served with paratha, rice varieties.  I always prefer to have just raita as I am fond of it.

It is very easy to make, a quick raita provided u have the ingredients at home.

Raita is  a commonly made side dish for biryani, pulao.  You can also serve with dal roti, dal rice.  You do not need any special item for making raita.

Normally, the basic things like onion, tomato, cucumber etc. are always available with any of the Indian Household so preparing a raita makes the task very easy.  If not these are available at home, you can add some boondis  or sev to the curd along with some spices like chaat masala, chilli powder, roasted cumin powder etc.

Pears kichadi or raita you can call is a very simple dish which goes along with dosa, idli, chapti and rice too.  I had few pears with me which was too soft and over ripe.  I could not cut them so I decided to grate them and make simple dish out of it.

Pears are packed with dietary fiber, anti oxidants, minerals and vitamins which are necessary for good health.  They contain Vitamin C, copper, iron, potassium manganese and magnesium as well as B complex vitamins such as folates, riboflavin and pyridoxine (vitamin B 6).

Pears are also useful in treating colitis, chronic gallbladder disorders, arthritis and gout.

All parts of Banana Plant is useful for us.  The banana stem, flower, fruit are used for making various delicacies.  I have already posted the banana flower sambar.

Today, I made raita out of it and it was very delicious.  I wanted to eat rice today and do not want to make any dishes which are time consuming as I had planned to make the vada which has taken a lot of time in cleaning the flower.

Since Holi festival is on 17th March 2014, I had planned to upload  pooran poli and thandai  recipe hence settled down for the simple raita, rice and papad for the day.

Tomato Apple  Pachadi is made with tomatoe, apple and green chilli.  It is a nice combo with chapati, pulao and steamed  rice.  The apples which we recently purchased was not tasty at all and children refused to eat as it was not sweet.  Hence decided to make use of it in pachadi as I was late from office and had to make some gravy subzi for the roti very soon.    It was easy to make and tasty too.  I made it in two different ways  one with yoghurt and one without yoghurt.

Three days back I visited one of my colleagues house.  I went there because he superannuated and were invited to his house.  Non veg and veg dishes were arranged by them. Being a vegetarian, I preferred to eat the dosa and bisibela bhath his wife had made.  It was lovely and I am a fan of Bisibela Bhaath. along with some kurdai, papad etc.  She had also made dahiwale tomato in her language it is thayir pachadi.  She had made it in a different style which I am sharing with you all.  It was tasty with dosa, bisibela bhaath.

Raitas are good accompaniment for pulao.  We also like to eat with roti if we make dry subzi.  We can make varieties of raitas with cucumber, beetroot, lady's finger, banana stem, mix veg etc.  Here I am presenting Boondi raita.  For making boondi raita, we need kaara boondi or plain boondi.

Lady's finger, okra, bhindi, vendakkai has many medicinal values.  Normally we make Vendakka Sambhar, Vendakka puli, Vendakka Pachadi etc.with this vegetable.

We can make stir fry subzi, stuffed bhindi, bhindi fry etc.  Today, I thought of trying the raita as raita varieties are liked by my children along with pulao, rice etc.

It is said that bhindi soaked in water overnight and the water consumed after removingthe bhindi  in the morning in empty stomach helps in controlling the diabetics.  coriander leaves juice taken in empty stomach also helps in controlling diabetics.    health-benefits-of-bhindi-okra-ladys.html
