Kiwifruit is one of nature's perfect foods: low in calories, high in energy and an excellent source of antioxidants.  It contains vitamins, potassium, magnesium, zinc and  is antioxidant too.  You can read the benefits derived from this fruit at the end of the recipe.

Kiwi Pulao – Very tasty pulao  made with bell peppers and dry fruits and served with raita, papad etc is yummy in taste.

If you want to make it colourful, you can use the bell peppers otherwise only with onion and tomato, you can make it.

My daughter was not ready to eat kiwi fruit.  Hence I thought of making this pulao with the bell peppers.  If I add only kiwi, then again she might not taste this at all.  It is a very simple and easy recipe provided you have cooked rice and kiwi fruit and bell pepper at home.  Even if bell pepper is not there, you can make it with onion, tomato and the kiwi.

Do try this and give me your feed back.  While preparing this dish, ensure that the kiwi is not overripe one.

During the mango  jack fruit season, in almost all the South Indian house specially in Kerala, one dish will be with these ingredients.  For dinner, I prepared the curd rice and mango puree.

My father was fond of curd rice and aam ras.  The aam ras prepared by him in a very simple method is a mouth watering dish for us as we also would love to eat it along with him.  You must be wondering how can you eat mango ras with curd rice.  Just try and you will love it.

Aam ras poori is another variety of dish we serve in our house during the mango season in Mumbai.

Let us look at the recipe now:

Mix dal kalathu podi sadam is a very delicious variety of rice prepared by South Indians.  The Kalathu podi is prepared with various kinds of dals or with single dal and spices.  When you ran out of vegetables at home or left over rice at home, you can heat it up and mix with this powder and gingelly oil, preferred or with ghee.

Easy to make and healthy too rice variety.  I made and posted Kollu kalathu podi, parippu podi, flaxseed kalathu podi today and already posted.  Since I had the curry leaves podi also with me I thought of mixing up all the powders which I made today and prepared this Mix Dal kalathu podi and made the rice too.

Manathakali leaves are having medicinal values so also the manathakali.  My stomach was upset and I do not want to have any heavy food.  I thought of making kichadi for dinner.  When I went to water the plants, saw the manathakali plant which was in my balcony garden.  So I decided to make kichadi with the leaves along with moongdal and rice.  You can also use samai arisi for this.

Since I want to have light food in the night, I prepared this and had it with the Wet Narthangai which I had brought from Nagercoil when we visited one of my husband's colleague there.

Coming back to the recipe, I prepared this for the dinner and served hot with narthangai and roasted papad to my husband.  I just had the kichadi with narthangai and was very tasty.

My daughter wants to eat rice but not with sambhar or dal.  I had some cooked rice with me and thought of making Tava Pulao.

Tava pulao is very easy to make, tasty and can be served hot with papad, raita.  I prefer, onion raita along with this.  Mostly the vegetables for this are available at home hence it will not be difficult for you to make it. Even if  you have two or three vegetables, it is sufficient enough to make this pulao.  A Mumbai  street food which you must  enjoy when you visit Mumbai.

It is quite filling  and can be served for two persons.

I have already posted Lotus seed subzi and Soup yesterday.  Now I have to post the pickle and the rice which I tried yesterday.  You tube: lotus seed rice

The rice which I made was excellent with the lotus seed.  I am quite lazy to write a big story about the dish and must have noticed that most of my recipes are narrated shortly.  Here I have no patients to write about it as I have already described about the lotus and seed in the Soup and Subzi recipe.

Delhi carrots are still available now and during the season, I prefer to use this carrot.  The English carrot my children do not prefer.

Varieties of rice preparation have been posted in the blog.  I observed that I have not posted the Carrot Rice.  Though my daughter prefer to eat the carrot raw and does not like the cooked one except for carrot payasam, carrot halva.  In pulao also she used to tell me mummy do not put carrot.  One evening when I asked her what to make for dinner, she said carrot rice.  I was happy to make the same.

It is a simple preparation with mild spice  and tasty too.  All children love the same.  We use less spice hence even small childlren in our neighbourhood enjoy our food.

Tomato pulao is a yummy rice variety with some veggies.  Today, I prepared the same for Lunch along with raita, papad, karuvadam etc.

As I was bored of eating chapati everyday and thinking of what to make as side dish for the chapati, for a change, I was thinking when my maid did not turn up for making chaptis, this dish for the last two days.

After  having a lovely time attending the  Happy Streets organised by Times of India  group, I was lazy to enter in the kitchen so made my day very easy by preparing this tomato pulao.  I have already posted tomato rice recipe in the blog.  You should have fully ripe tomato which is red in colour.

During winter you get almost all the vegetables specially the fresh leafy vegetables.  I always prefer to make the leafy subzi  very simple without much spices and have it with curd rice.

Spinach / palak is rich in folic acid, iron, zinc and antioxidant.   Spinach is packed with nutrients like antioxidants, Vitamins, omega 3 fatty acids and folic acid which are great for your heart. These nutrients will improve the blood flow in your body and prevent your arteries from getting blocked due to bad cholesterol.

Spinach has a very low glycaemic index, which makes it an excellent option for diabetics since it helps stabilize blood glucose levels. It is good for preventing diabetes too by preventing the dysfunction of beta cells that produce insulin.

Spinach is rich in fibre which helps cure constipation. It also has other properties which helps cleanse, rebuild and renew your intestinal tract.

Rice spinach skillet I made is with the left over rice.  Since we were bored of eating the regular lime rice, curd rice, coconut rice etc. etc. the list is endless of rice varieties, I told my daughter to do something with it.

It was her idea of making the rice spinach skillet dish.  Since she wanted to put on some weight, now a days,  opting for such foods which will increase her weight.  she is very fond of egg and cheese and decided to make something out of it.  This is not only tasty but healthy too.

The onion, spinach, egg and the cheese which is very tempting to try your hand on this dish.

Banana flower, kelechi phool, vazhapoo is very good for health.  After making the subzi, I thought of making the rice with the flower as my children will not eat if I give them the subzi.  Any kind of pulao, rice varieties are eaten by them even though they do not eat the subzi.  The only way to make them eat is parathas, pulao, biryani etc. in which I can dump any amount of vegetables which goes into their stomach without any problem.

The rice along with the onion raita, papad, pickle was awesome.

Kichadi is very soft, tasty and good for health.  When you serve the same  hot with little cow ghee, it is heavenly.  Kichadi is prepared with rice and moongdal with the masalas of rasam.  Today when I made it and shared with my colleagues during lunch time, they were having no words to praise it as they loved it so much.

The idea of making rasam rice came to my mind when I made Onion rasam yesterday.  The onion rasam was awesome.  I am sharing this recipe with you and am pretty sure, you all will like it.

Most of the people does not like bitter gourd because of the bitter taste.  But when you consider the health benefits of this vegetable, you will definitely include the same atleast once in a week in your diet.  It is very good for the people who are suffering from diabetes.

I have made few varieties of dishes with bitter gourd.  pavakka curry,  bitter gourd sweet pachadi ,   bitter gourd pickle,   bitter gourd fry, Today when I was making stuffed karela for my husband, his favourtie dish, I thought of making the rice with it and it was a hit among my office colleagues.  They did not feel that they are eating karela bhath, instead one said it is bisibela bhath.

Whatever form you consume this vegetable, it is quite healthy and I am sure, you will definitely try this.
