PEPPER CUMIN IDLI

 Pepper cumin idli is easy to make if you have idli batter at home for a change.  You can either serve it along with sambhar and chutney or rasam. I preferred to have it with rasam ofcourse, it is the choice of individuals.

It is not similar to kanjeevaram idli since  more ingredients are added in kanjeevaram idli than the pepper cumin idli.

Preparation for the same is like the normal idli batter.  Just before preparing the idli, add the crushed cumin, pepper, hing powder,ginger powder and curry leaves  and then make the idlis.

Preparation time: 5 mts cooking time: 10-15 minutes serves: 2


Ingredients:


1 cup idli batter
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp black pepper corns
1/4 tsp ginger powder(sunth)
1 to 2 sprigs of curry leaves dried
1 tbsp ghee
generous pinch of asafoetida

Method;

step 1

put the black pepper corns, cumin seeds, curry leaves, in mixer and crush them.

Step 2

Heat ghee, put the above mixture in ghee. when it sizzles, add this to the idli batter.   Add the sunth powder and asafoetida. mix well.

STep 3

Grease the idli mould, pour the batter in the idli plate and steam cook for 10-15 minutes.

Your pepper cumin idli is ready.

How to serve:

serve hot with sambhar, rasam or chutney
