BER SUZBI



After posting the ber chutney and molagootal,  here is another subzi made out of the ber fruit.  There is no need for me to brief about the benefits and brief about this fruit as you must have already come to know from the above two posts.


The subzi I made with the fruit can be served with roti and rice too as side dish.  It is a simple preparation as you make the regular subzis with your coriander and chilli powder and tomato etc. etc.  Though the fruit does not have a particular taste when it is made, it is really tasty with the masalas we put in it and for a change, you can really relish this.


Let us look at the recipe now:




                                                               Ingredients:

Ber (green ones)
1
Tomato finely chopped

Onion finely chopped
1tsp
Red chilli powder
1 tsp
Coriander powder
¼ tsp
Cumin powder
½ tsp
ginger paste
¼ tsp
Garlic paste
Lessthan ¼ tsp
Turmeric powder
½ tsp
Garam masala powder or pav bhaji masala powder or tandoori masala powder

salt
TEMPERING

2 tsp
Oil
1 tsp
Mustard seeds
Few
Curry leaves
A pinch
Hing powder
GARNISHING


Chopped coriander leaves
1 tbsp
Fresh cream






Method:


Step 1


Chop the ber, remove seeds.  Chop the onion  and tomato finely.


Step 2


Heat oil in kadai.  Add the mustard seeds,when it splutters, add the curry leaves and hing powder.  Add the onion, garlic and ginger paste and sauté for few seconds.  Add the chopped ber, sauté for few minutes. Add the tomatoes, sauté for few minutes till soft. 



Step 3



Add all the masala powder, turmeric powder, salt and mix well.  Cover and cook for five minutes.  Switch off gas.  Open and stir and cover  it and allow to remain on the stove top for another five minutes.



Before serving, add the cream and coriander leaves and serve with roti, chapatti, rice etc.
