TAVA PULAO

My daughter wants to eat rice but not with sambhar or dal.  I had some cooked rice with me and thought of making Tava Pulao.  

Tava pulao is very easy to make, tasty and can be served hot with papad, raita.  I prefer, onion raita along with this.  Mostly the vegetables for this are available at home hence it will not be difficult for you to make it. Even if  you have two or three vegetables, it is sufficient enough to make this pulao.  A Mumbai  street food which you must  enjoy when you visit Mumbai.

It is quite filling  and can be served for two persons.

Let us look at the recipe now:




Ingredients:

1 onion chopped
a small piece of capsicum chopped
a small piece of carrot chopped
a small aloo boiled and cubed 
fistful of green peas boiled
1 tomato chopped

2 cups of cooked rice

1 tsp pav bhaji masala
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp butter
salt

Method:

1.  Heat oil in tava.  put the onion and cook till translucent.  add the  tomato and cook till mushy.   Add capsicum, carrot and saute for few minutes.  add potato, peas and saute for few minutes.  

2.  Add the masala, mix well.

3.  Add the rice, salt, butter, mix well and cook on the tava till it is mixed well.

How to serve:

Serve hot  garnished with coriander leaves and  tomato raita, onion raita,  pineapple raitapapad etc.

Note:  I had cooked the rice with salt and oil.  In that case add the salt for vegetables.  after adding the rice, check and add salt if required.
