CORIANDER GUN POWDER RICE, KOTHAMALLI POWDER RICE, KOTHAMALLI PODI SADAM



Coriander gun powder is a substitute for the normal gun powder for Idli, Dosa.  We have it normally with dal rice, curd rice.  I also have it along with curd for  Idli, Dosa.  I have already posted coriander rice  in the blog.  This rice is different from that one which is already posted and really tastes awesome.  Coriander gun powder is made with urid dal, fresh coriander leaves, red chilly etc.  watch on youtube: coriander gun powder rice

Let us look at the recipe now:

Ingredients:
½ cup rice
3 tbs coriander gun powder, kothamalli powder
3-4 tbs fresh chopped coriander leaves
1 big onion finely sliced
1 tsp mustard seeds
¼ tsp cumin seeds
1-2 tbsp roasted peanuts
Few curry leaves
Salt as required
1 -2  tbsp  ghee

Method:

Cook the rice with little salt and one tbsp ghee in pressure cooker.  Ensure that the grains are separate.  After cooking  the rice, immediately remove from the cooker and put it on a plate.  Heat 1 tbsp ghee in kadai.  Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. When it splutters, add the sliced onion and sauté for few seconds.  Now add the coriander gun powder, peanuts mix well.  Add the rice mix well again.  Check the salt.  If required, add salt.  Mix everything well .  add half the chopped coriander leaves.  Transfer it in a bowl, garnish with remaining chopped coriander leaves, serve hot with papad, raita or salad.
