I have already posted Bamboo rice kheer.  Now I am posting Bamboo rice pulao.  This pulao tastes like the normal red boiled  rice pulao.  This is a medicinal rice too in ayurvedic and good for controlling cholesterol, sugar and blood pressure.  It also helps in reducing the join pain, back pain, arthritis pain etc.

Let us look at the recipe now:


1/4 cup bamboo rice
1 big onion chopped
3 tbsp  sprouted moong
1/2 tomato chopped
1/2 tsp pav bhaji masala
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/4 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp ghee
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
ginger paste/garlic paste (optional)
salt as per taste
chopped coriander leaves for garnishing


Pick the rice to remove the stones and other foreign particles in it.  Wash and soak the same for 2 hours.
pressure cook the same with 3/4 cup water for 3 whistles.  remove from the cooker and spread it on a plate.  If excess water is there, drain and keep the water making for soup as it is quite healthy.  Heat ghee in kadai. add the cumin seeds, when it crackles, add the onion and saute for a minute.  add the moong sprouts and saute for another 2-3 minutes.  add the tomato and saute for another two minutes.  add the masalas and saute for a minute.  add the rice, salt and mix well till the masalas are incorporated well in it.  garnish with chopped coriander leaves.  serve with tomato raita and papad.

Variation:  You can make the pulao with vegetables too.
